I thoroughly enjoyed your wisdom and reminders about the challenge of living a balanced and creative life. I became a great-grandma. My 18 mo old great-granddaughter regularly reminds me of the good simple delights in this world. A bucket of water with spoons & cups are a true delight for her to explore and a delight for me to enjoy.
Grandmothering is the joy of my life--I have 15 grand,s ages 5 to 20. Huge congratulations on being a great-grandma! How very cool. Put a laundry basket in the middle of the living room and see what she does with that. My guys climbed in and out, filled and emptied it, turned it over, and pushed it for hours
This carefully-written post is one of those affirmations from the universe about these lessons I’m hearing from various sources. Indeed, after a stressful year last year—and some health issues that may or may not have been related—I’ve done a lot of intentional slowing down, moving things off my plate, and taking more time for what I call “putzing around.” I have to resist the urge to always be doing something “productive.” I’m taking more time to write handwritten notes and letters and having fun tucking in funky enclosures I’ve made to make someone smile. And perhaps most important of all, I’m spending more time with my husband just talking, walking, or keeping him company. Your guidance is pure gold.
You are wise, my friend. It's so easy to get mired in what we must accomplish. The more we do, the more we have to do. You've done yourself a HUGE favor by ramping down. I am quite certain your time spent with handwriting is a perfect balance for other frenetic things. May you be well and peaceful. I'm so glad you're here.
I love the pace of your writing. Everything is thoughtful and so well-explained. I tend to speed read through everything (a nasty habit I'm trying to break), but your work always makes me slow down to absorb it all.
There are some powerful ideas here. And one scary note - two hours a day on time sucks. My number is probably higher than that, so now I'm concerned. Thank you for this reminder!

Right back at you, Maryan.

There is nothing in this world more gratifying to me than a careful reader. I'm grateful and will make sure I never take you for granted.
What a lovely thing to say! And such a relevant perspective from an experienced writer. One that many, many more writers should take.
You are dead right that spending time with family, friends and with a close community heals the mind and spirit. Great stuff. Thanks, David
I appreciate your input and support as always, David.
