This is a timely and meaninful article on growing an audience. I appreciate your suggestion on connecting with writers of similar interests to write a guest post or be a guest on a podcast, which will introduce us to new audiences. And yes, I prefer to spend time writing something meaningful.
I never could get into the daily habit of posting on social media. I tried a few times—started ...stopped, then tried again and stopped. I found that it didn't fit into my idea of connecting with others. So, your article confirmed that I don't have to twist my arm over daily social media posting.
Maryan, thank you for your sharing your experience on the drawbacks of being too hungup about social media. I'm sure that many other new writers, like me, will feel the weight lift off their shoulders after reading about better approaches to getting a solid growing audience that works. Coming from a seasoned and established writer like you, this is trustworthy, no need to reinvent the wheel. 🌟👍🏻👍🏽
This is really helpful - thank you. I actually have a very new Social Media Support business for local authors (local to me) and I am already trying to get clients to focus on one or two platforms to build a readership. It's so easy to get distracted from the important tasks - like writing great content!
I'm working on this as well. I can live without it except that I have distant family on Facebook that I love talking to. My problem is that I cannot go on Facebook just to check on them. Before I know it, I am sucked into reels and news reports and other stupid pages that the algorithm has decided I wish to see. I'm starting to see how many of the reels I see are merely AI creations, which is making it easier to abandon them.

Sometimes we overlook simple ideas—I know I did for a while
100% agree with you. It takes real discipline for me to check what I need in FB and then get back to work. It's very satisfying to manage it, though.

Glad I could help. I agree—focus is key. Can’t be everywhere all the time!
It's easy to get obsessed with social media and even easier to obsess over your part in it. Thanks for these ideas!
This story resonated with a lot of people. My life is way easier since I dumped all the noise!

Thank you for this. 😊
Sounds like good advice Maryan - social media is addictive and full of distractions! 😀Thanks for sharing your experience.
Thanks to you and all who read and were kind enough to let me know it helped!
