I have journals starting from high school along with my writing...I'll need to start looking through them. It's true that there's a through line that emerges if we go through enough of them...
How do you keep track of the many works published in many places over the years? Is your database a separate thing you’ve cleverly been maintaining on the side? I wish I’d thought of this years ago.
Since Google Docs began, I have used it to archive every single thing I write from book proposals, to manuscripts, to articles, to correspondence, et al. I have a carefully crafted file hierarchy that’s simple and easy to navigate. It’s all searchable, browsable, and shareable without effort. I would be lost without it. I can access anything I wrote for any publication, no matter how old it is. I wrote a piece about how to do that; let me find a link for you.
Thank you kindly, Maryan. I am normally well organized and can deal with lots of different files. I realize I've done a great deal of online writing, that is directly on a variety of platforms. Need to reclaim possession and archive along the lines you've suggested. Once again, a fine inspiration from our experienced expert!
All of my old writing is either academic or screenplays. But your idea will poke at me until it hits me what I can do with it. Thank you!
IN my mind, the ideas at the core of those writings could be reconstructed for your today goals…
Love this idea, thank you! Will be having a little dig through the archives this weekend! ❤️
You’ll be surprised at what you can do with your archives. Think outside the box!

I gotta think you will come up with solid gold!
hmmm... I wonder if I have access to that article I wrote on gray markets...
Agreed, citizen. Your archive is your infrastructure for the future.

I think you’ll find it helpful—I did.
This has been my whole career lately.
A very smart move!
