It's always fun to learn more about who you're learning from and how they got to where they are. The longer I'm out here, the more I find that there are some amazing storytellers that you have to really dig around to find!
hmmm…I threw a party where the guest list was limited to my husband, my ex-husband ( who is gay) and my middle son who was leaving for a stint in Iraq. Oddly, a fun time was had by all.
I always like reading about other people this was fun. Thanks for sharing. Grounded writing on social media is really difficult because it's definitely not what gets rewarded. So I can certainly relate to that big time.
And while you do find other types of writing here on Substack, it's been the one place where I've enjoyed coming back week after week.
We Baby Boomers aren't 20 anymore -- Thank goodness! The only downside is our bodies aren't either...beats the alternative, as my FIL used to say. Nice to learn more about you.
I really enjoyed reading more about you, amiga querida. You are amazing and you always inspire me. One of these days I would love to have coffee with you over Zoom. ❤️
I love this part bc it is so so true: "My best writing tip—respect your readers and don’t make them struggle to figure out what you meant. Polish, polish, polish until the story shines."
Gosh I’m glad you’re around! BTW I haven’t worked for 70 years, I’ve had at least a toe in 7 different working decades. 1960s 70s 80s 90s 2000s 2010s 2020s. Right?
Can relate to the “what makes me laugh.” My grandson wears his parents out.

For a good storyteller, look into my friend @Randy —and yerself!
Enjoyed this and I recognize the time zones...
Thanks!
Love the fun origin story about opening your own door at the Daily Herald. What's your most recent bold-ish move?

Wow, if that isn't the start of a story that sounds worth telling in full I don't know what is.

Wow! What a thought - I had never considered that! I’m so glad to have found you on both platforms.
Maryan, I do believe you're a hoot! If we lived close, we'd be fast friends. I love your articles!
Totally agree, my friend. And you know I enjoy yours, too.
