I wonder how long you've had this mentality. When I think about everything that I've read that you've written, it hits me now that you were writing what the "fans" wanted and needed. You weren't writing what you thought might go viral or what you thought might grab another ten subscribers. You were writing what we told you we needed - straight value for those of us who really read you.
Brilliant. I appreciate you so much. And this advice changes my way of thinking about what I am doing. Awesome!
I think I’ve always seen things this way to an extent—I write with my superfans in mind, I listen to how you all respond, and I survey people to see what I need to focus on. But, because I’m human, I have sometimes diverted my attention to sprinkling in tropes that “they” say can make posts viral. That stuff translates to noise—I see it every time I’m tempted. This month I’ve disciplined myself to rethink and rededicate my writing to satisfy my superfans—you are the reason I do this. As time goes, let me know how I’m doing! And thanks for your loyalty.
Another great bit of info, Maryan. Out of about 1700 subscribers (free), I have what I would say are a few hardcore regulars. And I love that. It's okay it's not a thousand. It may become that someday, or it may not. But there are definitely readers who are aware of my nuances, etc.. I enjoy that.
As my energy level increases (it has been heading up), I need to do more of your suggestions. I typically respond to every comment, but I don't have a discord channel yet! :-)
Thanks Charles. You’ll get there. As for Discord—it’s kind of labor intensive, I had a channel, but it kind of went cold—the interface puts some people off.
Thank you so much for this newsletter. It🤗 reminds me of the saying: people do business with those they know, like, and trust. These people become repeat customers/clients. Quality over quantity.

You earn that loyalty. When I am planning my teaching lectures, I think about many of the wonderful pieces of advice you've given. It's so helpful.
You have no idea what that means to me!
I love your article and try to follow your advises. Thank you Maryan.
Always happy to inspire you, Maria. Love having you here.
Love the Superfan. Some stick w/ you forever!!!

Yeah I'm a member of a few Discord channels and I'm not fond of the interface. It's hard on my eyes.
