I understand. I do have a risk tolerance and really a lot of stories of overcoming stuff. Excel was fun for me. I did a bunch of spreadsheets and was a pilot tester. I have bull shit meter and I can write 700 page EEO complaint. I used formulas and templates. I just did doing grants and data sets.
I do it, Rick, because it’s exactly my life, too. Encouragement is critical to our belief in our own abilities. I read once that older people become functionally invisible—-not on my watch.
I started with creative non-fiction workshops and when I finally left my husband, all the energy I’d spent on anger and disappointment was freed. That’s when my writing took off. 2011. Ya, I’m aging but I’m wise and observant, and having fun!
It’s so interesting that many of us begin writing in earnest when there is a startling event in our lives. Wise. Observant. Having fun. Pretty much a great path.
Excellent Insight and Encouraging too!
Happy I could be of help! And I believe every word!

I struggle with spread sheets. Then I usually hand them over to my husband/partner Dan.
Follow the itch - not the algorithm.
This work made me so happy. Thank you, Maryan!
I appreciate you, my friend.

50 years in and I'm still snatching commas out of every first draft. Some things die very, very slowly. Great piece.
Thank you, Charles. Sometimes, I, feel, like, the, comma, should, be, outlawed. Its use is so arbitrary and annoying.
I overuse it still, sometimes. :-)
I love that you keep appealing to and encouraging our age demographic to recognize and leverage the assets of life experience.
