You made me smile really big. I write like that a lot over on Medium, sometimes here. I have so much to say after so much life experience. And thank you for being so kind. Glad you enjoyed it.
You can read a few stories per month free, but the system's goal is to make you buy a membership $60 a year or something a little bit more by the month. Then you can read everything for free. Is it worth it? Well, the lion's share of that money used to be shared out to writers, but that doesn't appear to be the case anymore. There's a lot of terrific writing on Medium, but it's now buried among a ton of AI-generated junk and formulaic articles from pseudo-writers. I still[ pay for a subscription but am seriously thinking about a new strategy. Go browse Medium, find me at https://medium.com/@maryanpelland -- see what you think
In the West End/Stanley Park - Vancouver BC, Canada - back in the 1960's, spring had sprung when you would wake up to the smell of fresh, buttered popcorn. Real butter. The men would start off about 7 am and criss-cross the park.
This felt like a vacation. I remember some of those things - those wax Coke bottles...so gross! What a lovely slice of memoir.
Wow Miss Pelland. I didnt know you could write like that

I would love to follow you on Medium, but I have no idea how Medium works. Any tips?

Really liked your story, Maryan
Thank you, Bob. Those are strong memories for me—just like your popcorn one!
"You still find these guys in the corridors at O’Hare Airport."
And when I was living there, the subway. I don't know if they are still around there.
Wait, Charles--do you mean you lived in the subway? I need to read that story!
Lol, no, Maryan, I'm just a terrible writer who gave you that impression through the black arts of poor wording. :-)
